Dr. Geum’s wire sculptures embody the fusion of timeless Asian aesthetics and philosophy with contemporary flair. They are meticulously constructed of coated wire, adorned with gems, beads and sometimes silk. With a background in designing costumes for large-scale dance and theater productions, Geum infuses her work with delights in movement, energy and gesture.

 

About the Artist:

Keysook Geum is a Korean artist, designer, and professor.  With a PhD in Textiles, the costume designer, turned professor of Textile Art and Fashion Design at Hongik University in Seoul. The artist has exhibited extensively in Berlin, Vienna, New York, Chicago, Tokyo and Shanghai.
